Step 3: How to get a blood test for your FitGenes program

As a member of the FitGenes program, you are required to complete a blood test to provide us with accurate measures to benchmark your improvements and to provide us with a greater understanding of your health.

What is the blood test for? The blood test will measure a series of indicators of your cardiovascular health including:

  • Homocysteine
  • HS-CRP- highly sensitive c-reative protein
  • LDL-low-density lipoprotein
  • HDL-high-density lipoprotein
  • Cholesterol
  • Fasting glucose levels

How do I get a blood test? You can get a blood test for these indicators in one of 2 ways:

Option 1: Visit you local GP

You can download our information letter which explains to your GP why you require a blood test.

You may be able to claim the usual medicare rebate on this doctors visit and blood test.

Option 2: Go straight to your nearest pathology lab

You don't need a doctors referral to visit a pathology lab and request a blood test, however please be aware that without a doctors referral, you may not be able to claim a medicare rebate.

What will the results be used for? Your blood test results will be used by our FitGenes coaches to understand your cardiovascular health. These results play a vital role in further understanding how to tailor your diet specific to you. Your results are kept under strict confidential policies and will not be shared or distributed.

Where can I find more information about these indicators and their associated research? You can find out more information on these indicators and other genetic health information in our new Fact Sheets section.

Can you recommend any doctors or pathology labs? We are working hard to form partnerships with GP's and pathology labs and will keep you updated on this project.

Don't forget to download our information letter for your blood test.

Next Step? A FitGenes Coach will be in contact to book your nutrition consultation.
